LAYERS

Hello there you daredevils! And Merry Christmas, although I suppose it is a bit late for that.

As promised, I'm bringing you some new stuff about the program GIMP which I talked about not so long ago, so without further ado, let's get into it.

This time in questions, we are going to work with the layer system GIMP and the history system the program has. Which allows us to access any changes we may have done, at any given time. To see this, we will be using some basic shapes, so boot up the program and let's do it!

Firstly, we will look in our tool box for the circle tool, and with that we will create a circle in any color we want. After that, we will right click the layer with the circle and a selection of options will appear, and we will click the option ''New layer'' or simply using the shortcut that appears next to it will do, too.

We'll click the no background option to create the layer and, after it's created, we will double click it and change its name to ''Triangle''. Now, in this layer we will use the pencil tool, and using shift and left click we will start making straight lines until we have a triangle on top of our circle, and with the bucket tool we will fill it with color.

On a new layer, this time we will name it ''Rectangle'' and, using the method for the triangle, we will make a rectangle.

Lastly, we will make our last layer, naming it ''Stripes'', and we will be making some rectangular stripes along the canvas (remember that the bucket tool has more options, aside from plain color, so be sure to give it a try!).

And with that, we have a very confusing abstract picture. Now the last thing to do is start moving layers around and their opacity, and see which combination of figures you like the most!

Like any of this combinations!

Be sure to check in for the next post, where I will teach you how to make something special with the skills we already know!
