MOSAIC

We're back on the game viewers! This time with the ultimate test. For today, I've decided to test my limits by using everything I have previously taught you on this blog. A mosaic of portraits, using photos, photo editing, special effects....everything! So, buckle up because the show is about to start. To begin with, I have decided to use an image of an art gallery in order to make this mosaic feel like like a real museum. With this background, I have used photographs of my collegues (with their permission) to make this mosaic.  I firstly cropped the image to the size I wanted it to be, and after that, since I felt like there weren't enough paintings I decided to edit more picture frames in. After that came all of my colleagues photos. One by one I edited each one in their respective frames, and I cropped them to the right size. MUSEUM PHOTOMONTAGE

 Welcome back, to another one of those silly little guides you guys adore. I decided that I wanted to make a photomontage of a place that I hold very dear to me. For this project, I have used a picture of that place and some magic to make it look different. As you can see, a very good angle of a very memorable place to me.  Firstly, I have filled the left wall with art pieces from one of my favourite artists called Ni Zan (you can fin his works here ) and if you want, you can click here if you wanna know more about him. I also added some of his works on the other side of the glass panels behind the bench. And lastly, I have added three graffitis, one with my name next to the bench, one with my online name on the roof's wall, and one all around the pilar on the right.  I lowered the opacity to make it seem more believable, added some shadows and lightning. And there you have it!

GRAYSCALE

 We're back on the game fellas! And guess what, it's yet another day using GIMP. As you all know we previously did a photomontage where I showed all of you how to crop images together and make it look realistic. Today's exercise is quite the change, because I'm going to teach you how to do those cool grayscale photos where a single, vibrant colour is visible. Take as an example the picture below. As you can see, a very beautiful picture indeed. And if you haven't guessed by now, red's the most vibrant color there is. So, we will be creating a a grayscale of the whole image, in a copy of the image. That way, we will still have the picture below with the photo's original colors. Now, the next step ca be done by hand, or we can use the magic wand to select everything that's red, in my case I did by hand. We have to erase those parts from the grayscale image, so it will reveal the red color underneath. Add an inspiring frase, and just like that, voila! I be...

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another silly post of this silly blog. As a lot of you remember, last time I showed you how to use some aspects of GIMP.  In one of the examples, we did sort of a photomontage where I showed you how to edit images on top of another image and making it look realistic. And this post is just to show another example of that!  However, this image is a bit different because I have also added a different sky by removing the previous one with the magic wand and eraser.  That's all there is to it fellas!  Stay tuned. 

PICTURE ELEMENTS

 Sometimes we look at a picture and wonder, how would it look like with this? How would it look like that? Well, in this post you will learn how to make it look exactly like that! So, let's start! Firstly, we will grab a photograph we may have in our gallery, in my case I have chosen a landscape of a lake in Canada (the rights to the picture aren't mine) When looking at it for the first time I though, how would it look like with a bird on top of that log? Or how would it look like with some ducks swimming? Or how would a slightly cloudy sky look in this picture? To do this we will be using transparent images, which you can easily find in google. In my case I will be using pictures of a heron, a duck, and some clouds.  To use them, you can copy them onto the picture, and add them to a new layer. Once you have done that, place them where you see fit and use the eraser tools to erase any little imperfections. After doing that with each picture, use the pencil with a dark color in...

 Hello there you daredevils! And Merry Christmas, although I suppose it is a bit late for that. As promised, I'm bringing you some new stuff about the program GIMP which I talked about not so long ago, so without further ado, let's get into it.  This time in questions, we are going to work with the layer system GIMP and the history system the program has. Which allows us to access any changes we may have done, at any given time. To see this, we will be using some basic shapes, so boot up the program and let's do it! Firstly, we will look in our tool box for the circle tool, and with that we will create a circle in any color we want. After that, we will right click the layer with the circle and a selection of options will appear, and we will click the option ''New layer'' or simply using the shortcut that appears next to it will do, too.  Hello, hello fellas! It sure has been a while, hasn't it? Today I'm bringing you some new stuff that you may find interesting. As a lot of you may know, there is an endless amount of photo editing programs like Photoshop, Krita, A.Illustrator... you name it. However, a lot of people tend to miss one of the most useful ones out there, GIMP! In this post I'll show you the basics of what you can do in this program, but don't forget to check the blog these following days to learn even more. For this first project, in order to show you what you can do, we will grab an image from the internet (possibly one that is slightly tilted). And we will try to make some changes. Note that this doesn't imply the picture itself needs to be fixed or anything like that, we will only do this changes to see the functions of GIMP and nothing else. VECTOR IMAGES EXAMPLES

 Hi guys! As you may all know, on a previous post I talked about vector images and raster images. So, if you all remember correctly, vector images don't have pixels, rather, they use mathematical equations to represent images. In this post, I will show you a couple of examples of vector images I have created using the program inkscape . The Swedish flag, the EU flag and Thailand's flag. DIGITAL IMAGES QUESTIONS

Let's say, for example.... Think you want to print out a photograph with a size of DIN A4: 210 × 297 mm maintaining a printing quality of 200 dpi. Which resolution would the image need? So, we want to print out an image of 210 x 297 mm, knowing that 1 inch=25.4mm we can start calculating our results.  >210:25.4= 8.27 (approximately) >297:25.4=11.7 (approximately) And now, we multiply it by the dpi we want. >8.27x200=1660 >11.7x200=2340 And there we have it, we would need an image with a resolution of 1660x2340 pixels. However, I know some of you still have questions like: Which resolution would the same picture need to have a 300 dpi picture? Well, it would be very simple. Knowing our image is 8.27x11.7 inches, we just have to multiply these numbers by 300 dpi instead of 200. >8.27x300=2480 >11.7x300=3510 So, for 300 dpi, our resolution should be 2480x3510. Hey there once again guys! Today I was feeling a bit on the informative, so I decided to enlighten you all with some information about digital images.  We see digital images all the time. In our phone, in our computer....anywhere. But, even if we do see it on a daily basis, do we really know what it is and how it works? To start off, we have two types of digital images, vector graphics and raster graphics. Vector graphics use geometrical primitives like lines, shapes or polygons. Made out of mathematical equations that result on an image. The good thing about this type of images sis that it isn't made of pixels, so it cannot loose its quality if you make it bigger or smaller. Raster images, on the other hand, are made of a grid of pixels or points of color, and they can be stored as different format files.
