MOSAIC

Image
We're back on the game viewers! This time with the ultimate test. For today, I've decided to test my limits by using everything I have previously taught you on this blog. A mosaic of portraits, using photos, photo editing, special effects....everything! So, buckle up because the show is about to start. To begin with, I have decided to use an image of an art gallery in order to make this mosaic feel like like a real museum. With this background, I have used photographs of my collegues (with their permission) to make this mosaic.  I firstly cropped the image to the size I wanted it to be, and after that, since I felt like there weren't enough paintings I decided to edit more picture frames in. After that came all of my colleagues photos. One by one I edited each one in their respective frames, and I cropped them to the right size. For the ''filters'' I turned every picture to black and white, later I removed the white part (and left only the black), so that wa...

MUSEUM PHOTOMONTAGE

Image
Welcome back, to another one of those silly little guides you guys adore. I decided that I wanted to make a photomontage of a place that I hold very dear to me. For this project, I have used a picture of that place and some magic to make it look different. As you can see, a very good angle of a very memorable place to me.  Firstly, I have filled the left wall with art pieces from one of my favourite artists called Ni Zan (you can fin his works here ) and if you want, you can click here if you wanna know more about him. I also added some of his works on the other side of the glass panels behind the bench. And lastly, I have added three graffitis, one with my name next to the bench, one with my online name on the roof's wall, and one all around the pilar on the right.  I lowered the opacity to make it seem more believable, added some shadows and lightning. And there you have it!

GRAYSCALE

Image
We're back on the game fellas! And guess what, it's yet another day using GIMP. As you all know we previously did a photomontage where I showed all of you how to crop images together and make it look realistic. Today's exercise is quite the change, because I'm going to teach you how to do those cool grayscale photos where a single, vibrant colour is visible. Take as an example the picture below. As you can see, a very beautiful picture indeed. And if you haven't guessed by now, red's the most vibrant color there is. So, we will be creating a a grayscale of the whole image, in a copy of the image. That way, we will still have the picture below with the photo's original colors. Now, the next step ca be done by hand, or we can use the magic wand to select everything that's red, in my case I did by hand. We have to erase those parts from the grayscale image, so it will reveal the red color underneath. Add an inspiring frase, and just like that, voila! I be...

PHOTOMONTAGE

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to another silly post of this silly blog. As a lot of you remember, last time I showed you how to use some aspects of GIMP.  In one of the examples, we did sort of a photomontage where I showed you how to edit images on top of another image and making it look realistic. And this post is just to show another example of that!  However, this image is a bit different because I have also added a different sky by removing the previous one with the magic wand and eraser.  That's all there is to it fellas!  Stay tuned.

PICTURE ELEMENTS

Image
Sometimes we look at a picture and wonder, how would it look like with this? How would it look like that? Well, in this post you will learn how to make it look exactly like that! So, let's start! Firstly, we will grab a photograph we may have in our gallery, in my case I have chosen a landscape of a lake in Canada (the rights to the picture aren't mine) When looking at it for the first time I though, how would it look like with a bird on top of that log? Or how would it look like with some ducks swimming? Or how would a slightly cloudy sky look in this picture? To do this we will be using transparent images, which you can easily find in google. In my case I will be using pictures of a heron, a duck, and some clouds.  To use them, you can copy them onto the picture, and add them to a new layer. Once you have done that, place them where you see fit and use the eraser tools to erase any little imperfections. After doing that with each picture, use the pencil with a dark color in...

LAYERS

Image
Hello there you daredevils! And Merry Christmas, although I suppose it is a bit late for that. As promised, I'm bringing you some new stuff about the program GIMP which I talked about not so long ago, so without further ado, let's get into it.  This time in questions, we are going to work with the layer system GIMP and the history system the program has. Which allows us to access any changes we may have done, at any given time. To see this, we will be using some basic shapes, so boot up the program and let's do it! Firstly, we will look in our tool box for the circle tool, and with that we will create a circle in any color we want. After that, we will right click the layer with the circle and a selection of options will appear, and we will click the option ''New layer'' or simply using the shortcut that appears next to it will do, too. We'll click the no background option to create the layer and, after it's created, we will double click it and chang...

GIMP

Image
Hello, hello fellas! It sure has been a while, hasn't it? Today I'm bringing you some new stuff that you may find interesting. As a lot of you may know, there is an endless amount of photo editing programs like Photoshop, Krita, A.Illustrator... you name it. However, a lot of people tend to miss one of the most useful ones out there, GIMP! In this post I'll show you the basics of what you can do in this program, but don't forget to check the blog these following days to learn even more. For this first project, in order to show you what you can do, we will grab an image from the internet (possibly one that is slightly tilted). And we will try to make some changes. Note that this doesn't imply the picture itself needs to be fixed or anything like that, we will only do this changes to see the functions of GIMP and nothing else. In this case, I will be using this beautiful landscape taken by the photographer Oleksandr Ryzhkov! (You can see his work here ) As you can se...

VECTOR IMAGES EXAMPLES

Image
Hi guys! As you may all know, on a previous post I talked about vector images and raster images. So, if you all remember correctly, vector images don't have pixels, rather, they use mathematical equations to represent images. In this post, I will show you a couple of examples of vector images I have created using the program inkscape . The Swedish flag, the EU flag and Thailand's flag. So, if you want to know how to create images like these, tune in this next couple of days to find out!

DIGITAL IMAGES QUESTIONS

Let's say, for example.... Think you want to print out a photograph with a size of DIN A4: 210 × 297 mm maintaining a printing quality of 200 dpi. Which resolution would the image need? So, we want to print out an image of 210 x 297 mm, knowing that 1 inch=25.4mm we can start calculating our results.  >210:25.4= 8.27 (approximately) >297:25.4=11.7 (approximately) And now, we multiply it by the dpi we want. >8.27x200=1660 >11.7x200=2340 And there we have it, we would need an image with a resolution of 1660x2340 pixels. However, I know some of you still have questions like: Which resolution would the same picture need to have a 300 dpi picture? Well, it would be very simple. Knowing our image is 8.27x11.7 inches, we just have to multiply these numbers by 300 dpi instead of 200. >8.27x300=2480 >11.7x300=3510 So, for 300 dpi, our resolution should be 2480x3510. I believe both of those questions sum up everything pretty nicely, but if you still have doubts, then don...

DIGITAL IMAGES

Image
Hey there once again guys! Today I was feeling a bit on the informative, so I decided to enlighten you all with some information about digital images.  We see digital images all the time. In our phone, in our computer....anywhere. But, even if we do see it on a daily basis, do we really know what it is and how it works? To start off, we have two types of digital images, vector graphics and raster graphics. Vector graphics use geometrical primitives like lines, shapes or polygons. Made out of mathematical equations that result on an image. The good thing about this type of images sis that it isn't made of pixels, so it cannot loose its quality if you make it bigger or smaller. Raster images, on the other hand, are made of a grid of pixels or points of color, and they can be stored as different format files. However, unlike vector graphics, its features and quality depend on a series of factors. For a better understanding of what I am about to tell you, you can take a look to the cha...

DIGITAL SECURITY

Image
Hey, hey, hey security maniacs! I know the internet is a very touchy subject, and so is the security we have while we are online. A lot of people don't like talking about it, and to be honest I don't blame them. However, since most people don't like getting very detailed about the way they surf the web. I will post a couple of posts in order to teach all of you some basic rules about digital security. You will find these posts below this one.  Also , I was planning on doing a quick voting session in order to see which tips you liked the most out of these posts (phishing links and password security). You can vote here ! All the answers will be published in this post for everyone to see, so everyone can see the feedback. But remember, if you don't want to vote, that's completely okay! :D Here are my the posts about digital security if you guys haven't seen them, or if you want a faster way to get to them! Phishing Links Password Security

PASSWORD SECURITY

Image
''I always use the same password for all my accounts and applications. I do not like to use complicated passwords because it is difficult to remember and too long. What do you think?....'' Bceuase of this, let's say, for example, you're in your home using your computer and all of a sudden a hacker gets a hold of your password for a certain website. Since it is only one website it should be okay right? WRONG. Most people use the same password for a wide number of websites. Therefore, in this post, I will be giving some tips in order to avoid this for those who don't like complicating your passwords. Or, for those who didn't know they were doing it and want to start preventing a future attack. 1-So, the first step to make our password more secure is, of course, to check the number of characters it has. For example, if we have a 6 letter password like ''Tomato'' then it would be advised to get a longer password of at least 8 characters or mo...

PHISHING LINKS

Image
''I have recently received emails and instant messages that look legitimate at first glance. These messages come with URLs that prompt you to input your personal information. In turn, I think It will steal my credentials and use them to access my accounts and personal data.'' Imagine this, you're in your house watching a movie, when all of a sudden you get an unknown email from a website you visit frequently. The email looks legitimate, but once you enter the website it tells you to enter your personal information, which makes it seem a little bit off. Well, don't rush and enter your information without reading this post, because this, like the example at the top of this post, might be a case of Phishing Links . Everyone gets an unknown email every once in a while. Or an email that looks legitimate and ends up being the other way around. While opening emails is completely fine and won't cause trouble, clicking the links from said emails can end up badly if y...

PC BUILD

Image
Hello, hello! Under this post you will find a series of posts I made with a complete guide and explanation on how to build a PC. The budget for this PC would be around 900-1300€ (may vary depending on discounts, demand, shipment fees and alternative components). This guide will help you through the buying process of all the different PC parts, however, the building process may be hard to understand through text. To ensure a good installation, I'd wholeheartedly recommend TechSource's step by step guide, where he will guide you through the building process in great detail. For this build, most of our parts will come from a site called PC Components, however, a few of them will come from Amazon.  https://www.pccomponentes.com https://www.amazon.com If someone doesn't have the time, and/or doesn't want to look at the PC building guide without knowing the parts it has beforehand, you will find a message at the end of this post with a flip book I made showing all the data y...

Case

Image
The first step to create our own PC is choosing our case where we will fit every part the PC will use to function. For this PC, I have chosen a beautiful and neat white case, that'll look elegant on everyone's room. Or, if you're more of a person that prefers black color schemes, there's also a black variant. -The price for the case comes out as 40,99€ at a 36% discount or, 64,48€ if you miss it.  https://www.pccomponentes.com/tempest-shade-rgb-torre-atx-blanca

SSD

Image
We've arrived to a controversial topic now. Should we use a HHD or a SSD? Some people believe HHDs are more reliable, but let me tell you, they're not. Unless you're going to barely use this PC (or you're going to use it for nothing big) then a HHD would be an okay option. Even then, I would still recommend a SSD. In terms of gaming, video editing, running programs or speed in general, the SSD comes out on top. It's more durable, makes less noise, it's more resistant and also quicker. However, it is true that HHD offer an easier way to recover your files, in case they have been damaged, and the price difference it has compared to an SSD can be seen as big. If what you're worried about is file damaging, that could be easily fixed by making a copy of your files in an external hard drive. Which you don't have to buy immediately with the PC.  For this PC, however, I have chosen to use an SSD. Since I see it as a better choice, together with a good external...

CPU Cooler

Image
Let's talk now about a part of our PC that'll prevent it from exploding, literally. The CPU cooler. It is installed on the CPU and, like the name suggests, it cools it down. Since the CPU can get as blazing hot as a microwave about to explode, I figured the Nox Hummer H-212 CPU Cooler would be a great option. It's aluminum wings will help our CPU to stay cool and It'll look very elegant with the rest of our equipment.  -The price is currently 27,50€ without a discount.  https://www.pccomponentes.com/nox-hummer-h-212-cpu-cooler

SOUND UNIT

Image
Some people use wired headphones, some people don't. Some people use a wired microphone and some people don't. What matters is that you buy a sound unit according to your necessities. If you use headphones, speakers, or anything related by bluetooth or similar, then a sound unit is not needed. If you use devices that are mostly wired, then I'd suggest buying one. However, you could still buy it if you see that the sound quality you get from non-wired devices is bad, or your PC has a lot of programmes running and it makes it so that it is hard for the sound waves to reach the wireless headphones. Either way, for this PC, if you want to have a sound unit, I'd recommend the Asus Xonar SE Interno 5.1 Canales PCI-E. It's a minimalistic, small but functional sound unit that works wonders. So, if you're not a fan of wireless headphones or anything related, I'd suggest checking it out. -The price is 33,99 € with no discount whatsoever. https://www.pccomponentes.com...

Graphics Card

Image
Graphics card. That one component everyone always has doubts with when choosing which one to buy. Not only because they are extremely expensive, but because there is a wide variety of brands to choose from.  Note that a graphics card isn't needed if you use your PC for simple program running or file opening, since the CPU itself can handle that. However, if you use it for gaming, video editing or animation, a graphics card is a must for your PC.  Therefore, the most optimal graphics card I could find for this PC is the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 GAMING OC 12GB GDDR6 Rev 2.0. With this graphics card, it'll run anything you put it through without issue. That way you'll never have to worry about your graphics card.  -The price is 340,99€ with it originally being 499,99€. https://www.pccomponentes.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-3060-gaming-oc-12gb-gddr6-rev-20?campaigntype=pmax&campaignname=pmaxOfertastop&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmvSoBhDOARIsAK6aV7gJ-ZgtElAxK7xxpBPZ1yefuJjsg9di0u...
